From Pennsic
Aug. 17th, 2005 02:03 pmNo time to read my friendslist right now - that will have to be when I get home tomorrow night.
Pennsic has been a great, no stress break for me. I was REALLY stressed out. We are camping with Trimaris which is OK. We have met a couple of neat people we did not know before. But most of the people there run in other circles than we do and so there has not been much socializing in camp. Fortunately we have plenty of really good friends up here so it is all good - just not in camp! :) We have spent time with Nancy, John and Carol in there camp as well as hanging out with Mairi Cealidh in hers. In fact she invited us to camp with the next year - and offer I think we will take her up on. They had a very nice camp in a great location and with people we have a bit more in common with.
The husband has been fighting like crazy and doing well. I have been mostly shopping - something I do so well! We have spent a chunk of money as usual but have bought lots of gifts as well as some cool stuff for ourselves. I can not reveal the gifts at this moment, but we now have a full set of documented roman feast gear (well, everything but the utensils) and some really nice linen ($5 a yard! If anyone wants some call me by tonight, he has it in all kinds of colors!)
I have also managed to take a couple of classes including one where I learned how to do White Vine illumnation. Like much of this stuff it is much easier when you have someone show you how. Mine is not as elaborate as some but it is quite passable and I feel a lot more comfortable with the idea of designing my own stuff now instead of just tracing.
Got to see I Sebastiani (The greatest Commedia del Arte troupe in the entire world!) They are one of the highlights of my war and they were as good as ever. Lots of fun! There is a new troupe calling themselves "Cave Canem" that is performing tonight that we are going to try to go to.
Tonight is also Midnight Madness - so more shopping! Tomorrow I have to leave by 9am so I am really done with things tonight. I wish I could stay longer but I am glad I got to get up here at all. I REALLY needed to break...
